GREEN REVOLUTION - THE REASON for EVOLUTION of ALL LIFE FORMS

One will be surprised to know that 'evolution of life' is actually based on the 'green stuff ' all around us.

One cannot say with certainty how plants came to exist on Earth’s surface though scientific theory assumes that they first started growing on water. Fossilized filamentous algae from the Vindhya basin have been dated back to 1.6 to 1.7 billion years ago.

One thing we all know is more than 70% of the Earth’s surface is covered with water and because of this obviously, a large portion of life does exist inside the ocean.

Life on the ocean can be found from the surface of the ocean to the extreme environment at the bottom of the deepest submarine trench. The ocean water expanse is very vast and as the depth of the ocean can go as deep as 10,000 meters (10 km.), therefore ocean represents almost 99% habitable space on Earth.

We all have observed that marine life comprises of a very large variety of species. Marine life ranges from a simple microscopic ‘phytoplankton’ to a gigantic size whale that can grow to a size 100 feet long and weigh as much as 200,000 kg.

Variety of Algae under seabed in shallow waters

As per man-made science Earth’s surface cooled off completely after several 100’s of million years after the BIG BANG which took place approximately 4,500 million years ago. It is also assumed that no sooner water was made available on planet Earth from comets and meteoroids (from the asteroid belt) that collided with our planet along with gradual leakage of water stored in hydrous minerals of various rocks, the simplest form of life that might have emerged is the single-cell micro-organism.

Living organisms as we all know are basically made of ‘cells’ which are considered the building blocks of life. The most common ‘unicellular’ or single cell species are ‘algae’ and ‘bacteria’.
Others like plants & trees, tiny creatures, animals and humans come under the classification of ‘multi-cellular’ species. A ‘multi-cellular’ organism has to produce more cells and has to grow at a rapid pace to become a much large size species.

As per basics of science, if a cell starts dividing it becomes two cells and therefore this multiplication goes on to produce large tissues & organs and ultimately to a big size species which is the combining of billions of small cells.

Algae

Coming back to single cell chemistry ‘Phytoplankton’ is a single cell organism commonly known to us as ‘algae which are basically planted with the simplest organization. As there are a wide variety of  algae’  they are spread far and wide in different water surfaces and are very diverse similar to what grass and small bushes are prevalent on land. Many of the algae have single cell with the wall but some of them have no cell wall!

Freshwater algae are well adapted to distribute and establish themselves in either new or temporary water puddles or permanent places like water well and ponds because strong breeze and birds normally help algae to spread to other water spots across land and water.

Algae are simple plants and in the process called ‘photosynthesis’, they have the ability to make their own food. ‘Photosynthesis’ is a process where algae use Sunlight to convert carbon dioxide available in the atmospheric air combined with traces of moisture to manufacture a specific type of sugar for their sustenance!

Biologically all plants have the ability to extract carbon from the atmosphere in the form of carbon dioxide by photosynthesis process.

Carbon dioxide came into existence in ocean waters as well as atmosphere from multiple natural resources like volcanic outgassing, organic combustion like fermentation etc.

Carbon dioxide also got added during later stages into the atmosphere through the respiration process of land animals, fungi and other organisms which directly or indirectly depend on the green plants for their food.
Therefore we could theorize that as soon as water became available on Earth’s surface with the availability of adequate sunlight, plant kingdom should have been the first to evolve on water surfaces.

During this photosynthesis process ‘algae’ released a very important gas called ‘Oxygen’ which we know is the most important constituent of air for the survival of both animals as well as humans.

Perhaps after 1000's of years the grouping of Hydrogen, Carbon, Oxygen, and Nitrogen combined together under the ocean should have created the single cell living organisms like ‘bacteria’ and other viruses.

For ‘bacteria’ and another type of viruses, food was made available to them in the form of ‘algae’ freely available in oceanic water. After consuming these tiny green algae, the viruses started producing nutrients which go into the sea which became the microbial loop.
Bacteria which ate ‘algae’ also produced oxygen gas inside the ocean which after saturation inside the seawater started to rise into the atmosphere till the time OXYGEN reached a high percentage in atmospheric air.

The gaseous oxygen (represented by symbol O) that was released in atmosphere got converted to Ozone(O) and it is Ozone gas which is responsible for trapping ultraviolet light rays coming from the Sun helping the growth of plants on the surface of the land.  Plants as we all know also release a huge amount of oxygen which helped all other land species like animals and humans to survive due to the availability of this precious gas.

However, plants on land could not have grown without the key element called ‘carbon dioxide’ which exists only in a very small percentage in atmospheric air. Carbon dioxide in the atmospheric air is very minuscule (400 parts per million) but is of critical importance in our atmosphere.  It is estimated that Carbon dioxide in Earth's atmosphere has varied from as high as 7000 parts to as low as 180 parts per million during the last 500 million years and therefore in no way humans can control the biodiversity of Earth and its atmospheric changes because there are too many variable factors. This does question the foolish politicians and scientists talking about increase or decrease in the atmosphere which has no meaning in the long run!

"Therefore the beauty and the beast in Mother Earth's characteristics is inherent in the form of nature".

Thus humans trying to control the forces of nature and its creations is a waste of time and resources. They better put that money to better use like planting more trees and growing more vegetables for the welfare of humankind rather than doing the controlling ACT!

Coming back to single cell living organisms ‘bacteria’ and viruses, from here the next step was the evolution of the multi-cellular organisms like tiny creatures.  These tiny creatures also ate algae and the former became the food chain of a small size larger multi-cellular species like small fishes and arthropods that started evolving subsequently which thrived on other smaller creatures. Again small fishes and arthropods, in turn, were food for large size fishes, whales, penguins and every large creature that swim in ocean waters.

Therefore it will not be improper to make a statement that ‘it is the green plant that has fueled the diversity of life on Earth’ because thousands of species initially and even today survive eating green plants that exist in water as well as on land.

These plant-eating species are then killed and consumed by other carnivorous animals including the human species. Even to this day 100's of animal species as well as several hundred millions of humans are only vegetarians and are completely depended on food from green plants and vegetables.

Therefore the carnivorous species (meat-eating) could not have survived without the plant-eating species and the plant-eating species obviously cannot exist without the 'green revolution' Thus 'green plant revolution' has to be considered as the MOTHER OF ALL CREATIONS critical as well as very important for all species on EARTH.

THEREFORE WE ALL SHOULD NOT ONLY APPRECIATE BUT ALSO UNDERSTAND HOW IMPORTANT AND CRITICAL "GREEN PLANTS" WERE IN THE PAST,  NOW IN THE PRESENT AND SO DEFINITELY OUR FUTURE LIFE WILL ALSO  BE HEAVILY DEPENDENT ON GREEN PLANTS AND VEGETATION MORE  THAN ANYTHING  ELSE FOR THE SURVIVAL OF ALL!

"ALL OF US THEREFORE HAVE TO PRESERVE BOTH PLANTS AND ANIMALS SPECIES TO MAINTAIN AN EQUILIBRIUM ON EARTH"
