RESEARCH ON RE-BIRTH DONE BY CANADIAN PSYCHIATRIST

We are living in a strange world which is full of mysteries and we happen to see several astonishing things which we do not fully understand. For example hypnosis’ is a something which science has not been able to fully explain though psychiatrists say it is some kind of trance.

'Trance' is an unconscious state for a brief span of time during which muscles become rigid and a live human body is dazed or stunned and is unaware of the environment. This condition can happen either through mesmerism created by a competent hypnotist or could be induced by means of drugs.

‘Rebirth’ of a person is also something very mysterious and only a very small percentage of our human population believe in this theory. Although there are number of incidences where rebirth of humans have been factually recorded when a normal living person remembers the past history or the complete back ground information of a person who is already dead but unfortunately modern science has not accepted these facts.

However there are records and these have been preserved based several experiments conducted regarding the living persons who recount the life and family history of a dead person who lived 100’s of miles away. A Canadian doctor worked very hard for nearly 40 years on the subject previous life to give us some true insight about past life.

Doctor Ian Pretyman Stevenson was a Canadian psychiatrist who worked for the University of Virginia School of Medicine for 50 years. He is probably the best known, if not the most respected, for his collection of data to provide scientific proof that rebirth is real.

Instead of relying on hypnosis(through a method called past life regression analysis) to verify that an individual has had a previous life, Doctor Stevenson instead chose to collect data of few thousand cases of children who remembered past life.

Doctor Stevenson methodically made documents of child's statements of  previous life and then he identified the deceased person the child described   and then verified the deceased person's life which astonishingly fell in line with the child’s memory.

As per memories of the child Doctor Stevenson even matched birthmarks and birth defects to wounds and scars on the deceased which were verified through medical records. His strict methods and systematic approach rule out all possible "normal" explanations for the child’s memories regarding another non-existent or dead person!.

Some of these children have recognized former homes and neighborhoods as well as still-living friends and relatives. They have recalled events in their purported previous lives, including their often violent deaths.  The idea that some children between the age three to five not only remember a previous existence, but can identify loved ones from it, strikes most Westerners as so bizarre that it compels disbelief. Perhaps this is why the world's foremost investigator of the phenomenon, Dr. Ian Stevenson, has attracted so little attention.

Considering all the above facts which are meticulously documented by Dr. Stevenson we need to realize that a child whose brain that is in the development stage cannot have such memories registered in the neuron cells of the brain because this child has never seen or perceived these details using his or her normal sense organs.

Moreover the deceased person was buried or burnt and therefore every organic remains of the previous dead person is not in existence any more.
Therefore the biggest question is how does the young child remember all the past information because the brain of the child is a newly born organic tissue and is in the development stage and the growing brain under no circumstances could  have registered such an unknown information in the nascent neuron cells getting developing inside a normal child's brain?

However rebirth and migration of a soul from one body to another body as a cyclical phenomena has been well documented in various Indian Vedic scriptures and what people often quote as 'karma' is nothing but a carry forward balance of the previous life's work and the continuation of the journey till all actions as well as reactions and all desires get fulfilled.

It is a kind of a metamorphism of a specific soul going through several experiences through out its existence finally to merge with the supreme soul. To give an example it is like a small child getting lost in a chaotic crowd in a different city, breaking away from its parent(s) which compels the child to go through various experiences, good as well as bad, away from home to finally rejoin the family after many days or sometimes years later.

"As modern science is unable to prove all that is happening on this universe, as an intelligent human being one can only dwell on this subject of rebirth and draw ones own conclusion because most of us are not in a position to remember previous birth nor can predict our future with certainity."

  1. Rebirth is noticed in many people. In children it is very common as the curtain does not completely fall over their past life till the age of 5 or 7. However, in case of adults it is also noticed as an incident may trigger memories of a previous life.

Reincarnation word is mostly used for saints. They reincarnate. We (our souls) are reborn like one changes clothes.

  2. I agree with Renu Kakkar and till date was puzzled when reading such stories in the newspapers and magazines.Though it has been widely agreed by several Sages and scientists, that rebirth is a known one and each and every human being takes rebirth after their death, whether it is natural or accidental ones. The answer to this is not so easy to find out as there are several stages to reach the final conclusion and it must be a valid one too. We wonder why can't there be reincarnation when the Gods can take several avatars to do good for the sake of the human beings. After the death the Atma takes refuge in another body, while the old one is forsaken and destroyed by the relatives.
